Some Random Updates….

10 Feb

The past few weeks had been crazy and intense: a friend’s passing, my friend’s cousin passing too, a friend suddenly separating from her husband and my friend’s friend being hospitalized because of a difficulty in her pregnancy. And if you have not read my latest comment yet regarding the triplets, they did not make it. The kids are now in heaven. =( I know, it’s really sad. But again and again.. God is in control. It is good to remember that “truth” in times like this. Do continue praying for Kim and her husband (as well as Jill and her current situation).

Well, in spite of all those… God has been blessing me with many things.

1. My sister made it! She auditioned for a competition and she got in. Then, she made it to the semi-finals! And last week… I found out that she made it to the finals! Please pray for her. The finals will be on March 10.

This was her performance that night…

2. It finally came! We found an online bookstore that has FREE DELIVERY worldwide. Yup, anywhere in the world! We ordered some books last month and one of them finally arrived yesterday. My husband was so so so delighted! He loves Joel Rosenberg and had almost completed all his books. The store is called Book Depository. Since the delivery is free, it took so long before the book arrived. But then, it is worth the wait!

3. I’ve started dancing. I’ve always wanted to dance. Now that I have more time, I started dancing as a way of exercising in the morning. I love it!

4. I’m working on a project. I am so excited… I’ve started a project last year with a couple of bloggers. The progress was quite slow because there’s just no time to do it! When I get home at night, all I want to do is sleep. I know you can relate. But now, I got more time so I’m working on it more. I promise to tell you more about it in the future! =D

5. I’m moving! This blog has been my home for the past year and a half and I have decided to have my “own” space so I purchased a new domain. It’s not yet up and running but I’m working on it.. I’ll see you there soon!

That’s all the happy things happening in my life now.

How about you?! How are things?!

Deep Sorrow

6 Feb

I heard some very very sad news today. Someone I know has just separated from her husband. At first, I thought that it was not real. This couple is a strong believer. They love God with all their hearts. In fact, I look up to this couple and so it pains me to hear this piece of news. I want to believe that this is just a temporary situation. God is all powerful and I know He can turn things around. May their hearts be filled with love and His truth.

Will you pray for Jill?

Also, this week, a friend’s friend has been hospitalized. She had a miscarriage last year and after that, God has blessed them with triplets! You can just imagine their joy. She’s now 15 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, it is with many complications which is the reason why she is in the hospital now. Last night, her water bag broke. Most likely , Baby A has to be delivered. Hopefully, Baby B and C will be safe and will not need to be delivered.

Will you pray for Kim?

These situations remind me of the verse in 2 Corinthians..

8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

I know… God is in control.

Expressions to Remember

3 Feb

Everyday, Hubby and I are learning new things. Thanks to the Love Language Devotional. =) I really recommend this devotional to every couple!

I would like to share with you some “expressions” Hubby and I have learned and tried to use in our daily conversation with each other.

“I want to understand what you are saying because I know it is important.”

This is what Hubby and I have been rehearsing. In general, we always agree with each other. We always have the same goal and the same way to get there. But of course, we are different individuals. Whether we like it or not, we are wired differently. And this expression is surely handy when we start to divide. I need to remember to keep an open ear to everything he is saying. I may not always agree with it but I need to listen.

“That’s an interesting way to look at it.”

Hubby and I almost ended in a heated argument last week when I told him that I did not agree with what he has decided on. I just don’t. And my tone was not as nice to be honest. I just knew that it will end up in an argument. Hubby being such a good learner told me instead “That’s an interesting way to look at it.” I was alarmed and suddenly realized how I was behaving. I was glad it was dark then and he didn’t see me blush because I absolutely did. Then, we both burst out laughing. It really is one thing to read about what you should do, and another thing to actually do it.

“I really appreciate that.”

I know it’s really simple and easy to remember but most couples forget to appreciate each other. Hubby and I have started becoming more appreciative of each other. It also encourages us to serve each other. Specially for me who appreciates being appreciated, it gives me more reason to serve him because I know he appreciates it.

What do you usually tell your husband (or wife) when an argument is about to start?

Are you appreciative of what he (or she) is doing for you?

A Temporary Dwelling

31 Jan

Last Wednesday, I got to talk to a friend for a few minutes and she mentioned that her cousin had a heart attack. This guy just got married a few months ago and his wife is just devastated about this whole ordeal. I told my friend I would be praying for him.

Last night, I got to talk to my friend again and inquired about her cousin’s condition. She said “He didn’t make it.” I was disheartened. Although I do not know her cousin personally, I felt the pain having lost someone recently too.

Death is changeless.

It will come whether we like it or not. It just comes to others earlier.

The Bible tells us that where we are is just a temporary dwelling (2 Corinthians 5:1-4). After departing from our body, God will bring us into His presence (2 Corinthians 5:6-8).

I don’t know what your beliefs are but I hope you don’t mind me sharing mine. I believe that the Bible is real. I believe that the Bible is God-breathed. I believe that Jesus is telling the truth when He says that He is “the truth, the way and the life”. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. It is a gift. If we want to get that gift from Him, we have to believe that He is able to save us.

How? Pray. Pray for repentance. Pray that God forgives us of our sins and turn away from them. Pray that He would be the Lord over your life.

What else? No more.

Whatever comes next is the result of believing in Him. Reading the Bible, going to church, loving others… All these will come out naturally if we let God lead our lives.

We don’t know when death would come to us.

And that is for sure. Would you be ready? Would you know where you would go?
